Donate to The Energy Mix
Well, this is something new…
From the moment you first laid eyes on The Energy Mix, we hope you’ve known the basics—we produce our digest and online archive as a free community service, and we’ll never try to sell you anything.
That’s still true. It always will be. But in the last few months, we’ve been taking a closer look at the different pay-what-you-can options for publications like ours.
Our first 100 donors win a copy of Jazz Grows Green, an 18-track CD by our colleague and friend Paul McKay (a $20 value!). Here’s a sample:
Here’s why. The Mix costs about $80,000 per year to produce, and it’s funded entirely by its parent company, Smarter Shift. That doesn’t include the personal time our publisher puts into the publication at no cost.
We’re thrilled to be able to do what we do, and we don’t plan to stop or scale back. But we know we need new sources of funding to deliver all the additional services we’d like The Mix to offer: special features, new content formats, and campaigns that we think will help the fight to get climate change under control.
We know it won’t happen overnight (and we’re fine with that). But we also know many of our readers have expressed a willingness to support our work through optional one-time or regular donations.
So, we’re setting out to raise $40,000 by June 2019.
Half of the funds will pay for new services and special projects. The other half will stabilize Smarter Shift’s contribution at about $5,000 per month (plus in-kind time from our publisher).
