Typhoon Koppu Displaces 10,000 in Philippines

Powerful category-four typhoon Koppu hit the northeastern Philippines before dawn earlier this month, destroying homes, displacing 10,000 people, and creating coastal surges four meters high, said disaster agency officials. There have yet to be any reported casualties. “We expect some damages on public infrastructure and agriculture,” said Norma Talosig, regional disaster agency head in the rice-producing Cagayan Valley.
