Increased Transmission Lines Help Wind in Texas
The latest Wind Technologies Market Report (WTMR) was released last month showing growth for wind energy in Texas. The data shows that in Texas “curtailment has been slashed” from 17% in 2009 to 0.5% in 2014. This occurred despite increased wind generation and was due largely to bringing added transmission online. The transmission improvements were preemptive as the value of wind increased and became of great importance to Texas’ generation portfolio.
