$8 Billion, 2.1-GW Wind/Storage Project Supplies Wyoming Power to Los Angeles

A 2.1-gigawatt wind farm in Wyoming, an 845-kilometre (525-mile) power line, and an injected air storage facility in Utah are the hallmarks of an $8 billion project to supply renewable power to Los Angeles. “This project would be the 21st Century’s Hoover Dam, a landmark of the clean energy revolution,” said Jeff Meyer, Managing Partner of Pathfinder Renewable Wind Energy. In fact, Goosens reports the project would deliver more than twice as much power as the iconic dam, supplying a metropolitan area where demand is expected to grow 18% by 2024.
