World Bank Expects ‘Huge’ Carbon Pricing Announcements at UN Climate Summit

The World Bank expects to see a “huge number of countries and businesses” commit to carbon pricing schemes during the UN climate summit in New York next week, the Bank’s climate envoy Rachel Kyte told RTCC. “We believe by the time we get to the summit we will have a very substantial number of countries, states, cities, and companies and we will be able to talk about significant percentages of global GDP, the world’s population, and greenhouse gas emissions coming from economies where carbon is being priced,” she said. “We think that’s news, because we think people don’t believe it is really happening.” (h/t to Environmental News Bits [1]for pointing us to this story)
