Kentucky Climate Advocate Supports New EPA Rule

Though Kentucky and Indiana are two of the coal-dependent states at ground zero in the looming fight over the new EPA regulation, a local climate advocate supports regulation of power plant emissions. “Kentucky will be affected more than any other state, or it at least will be in the top tier,” said Sarah Lynn Cunningham of Louisville’s Climate Action Network. But EPA action is essential “because the climate is kicking our butts everywhere,” and a clean energy transition won’t take place “until we are forced.” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, facing a tough re-election fight this fall, will introduce legislation to block the new regulation.
