Google Buys Stake in Africa’s Biggest Wind Farm
Google is buying a 12.5% stake in the 310-MW Lake Turkana wind farm in Kenya from Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems.
“Upon completion in 2017, Lake Turkana will be Africa’s largest wind farm, with the capacity to produce enough power to meet 15% of Kenya’s electricity needs,” SeeNews reports. “It will use 365 units of Vestas’ V52-850 kW turbines, capable of generating over 1,400 GWh in total.”
